Nicolas Steil’s feature film, THE WAY TO HAPPINESS, will be screened for the first time during its Selection for Official Competition at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. During the festival, the film will be screened five times.

In this interview, the director Nicolas Steil explains the story of his film and hints at its multiple levels of reading, before talking about his personal and cinematographic interest in the Second World War. On this subject, he particularly mentions his fruitful meeting with Henri Roanne-Rosenblatt, author of the book “Le cinéma de Saül Birnbaum” and co-writer of the film alongside Michel Fessler. The interview also allows us to learn more about the film’s actors and actresses, in particular the duo Simon Abkarian and Pascale Arbillot and their links with the director. And finally, he says a few words about his affinity with the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival and the exceptional shooting conditions (let’s not forget that the film was shot in the middle of a pandemic!).
